little talker

A conversation with Nora yesterday:

Mama: What do babies do?
Nora: Cry (she says this with an adorable little cocked head and sad face)
M: What do they want when they cry?
N: Mumps...hold...mama papa hold...happy
M: So, when babies have mums and mama and papa hold them, babies are happy?
N: Yes. Mama papa hold baby Nora...happy.

It was by far her longest sentence yet and SO cute. I think she's going to be an amazing big sister. Speaking of which, little b has been kicking and flipping away in there lately. S/he especially likes to move around when I'm putting Nora to bed. I take this to mean either a) s/he likes my singing voice, b) s/he is trying to escape my singing, c) s/he is already trying to kick his/her sister, or d) it's the only time of the day that I sit still for long enough to feel the kicks consistently. Whatever the reason, it's cute and I can't wait to see Nora's reaction the first time she feels a kick to her side while nursing!

And, just because I can't post w/out any pictures, here are a few of Nora modeling our friend Sarah's hat at their apt in Cambridge:

This one looks so much like a little Chris! I'll have a find a comparison pic and scan it in.

And a video of Nora and her pal Jamie playing their favorite game (keep your ear out for Nora counting "one, two, three!" before running around the island to find Jamie):

Toy box clean up

What a helpful little lady Nora is. Our morning project (apparently the 2nd trimester has given me a burst of cleaning energy!) today was cleaning out the super messy toy box. Nora "helped" by climbing in and out and in and out of the box while periodically tossing out everything I'd put inside. Fun times. I did manage to finish the job as she was preoccupied with putting things through a cardboard tube (including blocks, food and her own arms and legs) and took a few very important phone calls.

In little b land, I've begun to feel some indisputable fetal flutters, which is wonderful. Bring on the kicks, little b!

Before/during...

And, after...
